Lookingglass Cyber Solutions LLC, based in Baltimore, MD has developed a proprietary internet‐to‐
enterprise network intelligence platform, which provides real‐time virtual, physical and contextual insight
into the way in which the global internet expands into the enterprise. The company’s flagship product,
called ScoutVision, provides analysis and visualization of logical (IP routing), physical (geo‐location) and
transit medium (fiber, satellite) topology enabling cyber professionals to accelerate analysis and improve
responsiveness to potential threats. The company’s other product, called ScoutSimulate, tests an
organization’s ability to defend against cyber attacks on real‐life networks, through running web‐based
simulations of real‐world cyber attack scenarios.
To date, Lookingglass has secured $3.25 million since inception in October 2006. The company launched
ScoutVision in July 2008 and generated revenues of $790,000 in that year. The company is currently cash
flow positive and projects revenues of $1.5 million in 2009, rising to $2.8 million in 2010 and $5.4 million
in 2011. During an interview with VB/Research Derek Gabbard, President & CTO at Lookingglass,
explained that numerous government agencies and financial services institutions are currently trialling the
solution and are expected to make a final purchase decision in Q4 2009. Should these contracts be won,
the company will look to raise capital to service this demand. The amount to be raised is as of yet
undecided and will depend on upcoming sales volumes. Most recently, Lookingglass was awarded the
second of a three year contract with the Department of Homeland Security. Gabbard added that the
company is keen to move into the commercial and financial industry, which the company considers to be
its largest market.
